We just closed down our Twitter/X accounts for Lytefire.
We weren’t active there since a long time and we can see that this platform is definitely not aligned with the values we defend with Lytefire, and solar cooking in general.
When we share to document our projects and promote solar artisans, we don’t want to be greeted by X owner’s posts even though we have not subscribed to his profile. That’s a level of narcissism that’s just not healthy.
Thankfully, the internet still has the potential to democratize access to communications today. Other platforms/networks like Mastodon seem a good choice at this point, and we should make the effort.
We’ll keep a close look on the evolution of other social media platforms and will react accordingly. We hope many others will do too.
