We are happy and honored to start a new project in East Africa with the trust and support of Jansen PrimeSteps Foundation. Entirely focused on supporting entrepreneurship in vulnerability countries, this partner is going to help us elevate our work and increase our impact in Kenya.
A few years ago, the Foundation has previously supported the empowerment of women’s groups in Burkina Faso. In this beautiful yet impoverished country, women and youth, in particular, lack livelihood opportunities and access to poverty. The project provided several professional mechanical solar ovens, and the users received appropriate training.
With this new cooperation, the goal is to go further and support six small-scale solar businesses with proper incubation for them to be profitable. The basic training will familiarizes users with the technical aspects of the technology (use, maintenance, safety) and the core support will cover entrepreneurship-related topics such as accounting, wholesale, customer contact, and much more, to enable each group to succeed as independent entrepreneurs. To develop this area and ensure the success of local businesses, the Jansen PrimeSteps Foundation is specifically supporting the establishment of an incubator-style operation.
Impactful social enterprise Lytefire distributes equipment designed to create new sustainable income opportunities to empower populations in vulnerable countries. Our team also offers innovative training programs that help start local businesses or promote the transfer of technological know-how to vocational schools. According to our impact calculator, using a solar oven for 10 months a year saves 72 trees from being cut down (equivalent to 651m² of forest).
