Solar Tech
Our products are made-in-Kenya and available for all of Africa. Users can install Lytefire themselves. It is also possible to send a technician and to organize different training. We are here to support you all the way!
Skills & Training
Lytefire is usually easy to install and sometimes a training is needed to facilitate the appropriation or to support the creation of a profitable activity. We can also offer TVET and Tech ToT.
Lytefire for Education, Income Generation and Productive Use
First of all, being an entrepreneur is a mindset and many people have it but they blocked with the lack of abundant free and clean energy. With Lytefire’s simplicity and power, they can create their own, successful and sustainable job. Each Solar Bakery Training is about 3 weeks and goes through all the aspects of launching a small activity. We train groups of beneficiaries, for example youths or women’s groups, in the skills of running their solar bakery.
Alternatively Lytefire can also be used to roast nuts and seeds for snacks and the training can be more focused on this activity.
"Earning money from bakery sales is an integral part of the training. Participants learn the technical, baking and entrepreneurship skills to run the Solar Bakery we start with them. The results are real. "
— Joan Arwa, Trainer
Each participant learns the hands-on skills of baking delicious breads, cakes, cookies and local specialties. On top of this, each participant will learn how to manage the new energy resource, how to plan the production according to the weather. Hygiene, accountability, team management, we make sure the participants can become a successful and independant when it comes to maintain their Lytefire.
Explainer: Why we care so much about maintainability?
Every technology breaks at some point. And if we can’t fix it, well — it remains broken.
We have seen this happen in the field with so many solar lights, water pumps, tractors... that once were shiny but now are just standing around, useless, polluting, a waste of money and hope.
So we designed Lytefire for maintainability. It means that we only use simple materials, and glass mirrors, that are available in any larger town for replacement. This way, users can maintain Lytefire themselves.

Feedback from the field
What They Say
"Joining the Lytefire project was a special moment and the best decision we have ever made because in most countries in Africa, especially in Uganda, we are educated to look for jobs as job seekers not as job creators but this bakery group with the Lytefire solar oven and training has given us an opportunity to create jobs."
"Throughout the process, Lytefire proved itself as an innovative, resourceful, and thoughtful partner in Uganda. They offer an impressive product, and back it with in-depth knowledge and supportive staff. The Lytefire units have a triple impact of fighting climate change, enhancing food security, and supporting rural entrepreneurship. This technology has great potential to help the world. I am pleased to recommend Lytefire."
"Plan International Uganda has been very satisfied with Lytefire’s pedagogy, methodology, organization skills and the solar concentrator Lytefire (solar oven) is very well adapted to Uganda’s context for small entrepreneurs. The Lytefire is empowering people and is a good solution for climate change mitigation among vulnerable populations."

"Under the initiative of ADSCAL and with the excellent service provided by Lytefire, four solar ovens have been installed for the bakeries and a pastry shop run by a women’s group in the village of Agnam, as part of the fight against deforestation in a region strongly affected by climate change. The energy and dedication shown by Mrs. Wissenz go far beyond the project itself and give us complete satisfaction and confidence in recommending this work."
"We are able to save 500€ per month of buying bread that we now bake ourselves, and on top of that, the solar bakery brings an income of 260€ every month from additional sales"
“The Lytefire Oven is giving us 275 KSh (€2,70) per day, but with the charcoal oven it’s only 75 KSh (€0,70). That’s a big difference.”

"Training with the Lyfeire technology is environmentally friendly and using solar as a form of energy that will sustain my life and the community without causing harm such as C02. As a bakery we are preserving the environment and the other living organisms."
"Our solar bakery reached a turnover of 123€ per month"
"We made popcorn as a snack this morning, (look how hot the cooker got at 9am). Then this afternoon the students used it to make a stir-fry using ingredients from the garden (collard greens, garlic, onions, eggplants, and herbs)."
"What moves me the most I think is the ability that this tech is providing to women to emancipate themselves, to empower themselves, to take the lead."
"When we use it with students and the public, it is an impressive and popular tool. Making popcorn with it or stir-frying from the garden are the most common ways that we use it."
" ’Instead of buying charcoal, we use the sun’, great to see such a simple solution with so many applications - including commercial food production - in so many places (many in Africa, but also the video features Switzerland and Finland)."
