It’s been a very long time since we wanted to start a project in Senegal with the right partner. We are very happy to see that this is finally happening.
It will all happen in the village of Agnam Lidoubé, where four solar ovens are going to be installed thanks to Adscal Association and especially thanks to the extraordinary persistence of Mr Mouhamadou Touré. Between his first phone call to us at the end of 2023 and the installation of the ovens in Summer 2025, a lot has happened and many times we thought that this project would never materialize! Indeed, so many things have been delayed but in the end, everything went well and the solar ovens will improve greatly the village’s daily life.
Three ovens are going to equip existing bakeries. One will go to a group of skilled women baking biscuits and cakes. The women are in charge of a magnificent garden.
Michel Mouillé, creator of Idée d’en Faire, a French association educating people to solar cooking (among other things), is in charge of the training on-site to install the units, show maintenance, safety and usage.
The village has about 1 500 people and Adscal Association has been doing an amazing job for years to support them with adaptation to climate change.
Watt For Change - Fonds de dotation du groupe Valorem and Synergie Renouvelable Foundation have supported the project starting in Summer 2025.
