The solar skills that supports:
sustainability.
resilience.
sustainability.
autonomy.
local income.

Lytefire is the only energy company that offers training in the means of energy production. Like others, we train on how to use our technology. But unlike others, we also train on how to build our technology (ToT). By training youths and women in these skills, we enable energy access where it makes its biggest difference, with a positive impact on the environment.

Lytefire has been selected since 2021 as one of the top solutions for canteens of the Global South by EDUCATION FINLAND, the platform of the Finnish National Agency for Education and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

Joining the Lytefire project was a special moment and the best decision we have ever made because in most countries in Africa, especially in Uganda in which our bakery is located, we are educated to look for jobs as job seekers not as job creators but this bakery group with the Lytefire solar oven and training has given us an opportunity to create jobs."

For NGOs and their Beneficiaries:

1 Solar Bakery Trainings: Lytefire for Income Generation and Productive Use

What better way is there to escape poverty than by creating your own, successful and sustainable job? That’s exactly what we’re doing in each Solar Bakery Training: We train groups of beneficiaries, for example youths or women’s groups, in the skills of running a bakery.

"Earning money from bakery sales is an integral part of the training. Participants learn the technical, baking and entrepreneurship skills to run the Solar Bakery we start with them. The results are real. "
— Joan Arwa, Trainer

But skills are not all: Each bakery also gets their own solar Lytefire, which means this bakery will not have to spend money on fuel like their competition. We work closely with the local NGO to provide the right infrastructure for the bakery to succeed. Lytefire can also be used to roast local produce and cook in community kitchens.

Each participant learns the hands-on skills of baking delicious breads, cakes, cookies and local specialties. On top of this, each participant will learn how to become a successful, sustainable entrepreneur and how to use and maintain their Lytefire. Together with the local NGO we create sustainable jobs and income with a lasting effect.

Explainer: Why we care so much about maintainability?

Every technology breaks at some point. And if we can’t fix it, well — it remains broken.

We have seen this happen in the field with so many solar lights, water pumps, tractors... that once were shiny but now are just standing around, useless, polluting, a waste of money and hope.

So we designed Lytefire for maintainability. It means that we only use simple materials, and that we use glass mirrors, that are available in any larger town for replacement. This way, with a few easy moves, users can maintain Lytefire themselves.

For Vocational Schools, TVETs, and Institutions with technical capacity:

2 The Tech ToT (Training of Trainers)

Do you have the capacity to fabricate Lytefire? Many vocational schools do. Other institutions with metalwork capacity are also choosing the Tech ToT to get started with Lytefire. How does it work?

We offer on-site Training of Trainers (ToT) for vocational schools and TVET programs to integrate our technical know-how into their curriculum.

Post-training, institutions can integrate our methodology, build Lytefire Solar Ovens for internal use, and access ongoing support via the Lytefire Hub.

Chose the ToT if you are interested in:
– Enabling your students to learn and build innovative solar tech
– Using Lytefire in your institution, e.g. to save money on energy
– Offer skills that benefit students now and in the future

The Tech ToT is the result of our 15 years building Lytefire in different settings with artisan methods developed with many builders all around the world in challenging contexts. So we know from experience that we can adapt to your unique setup to make the Lytefire ToT a success.
